Well here’s a good one. Fake doctor and Osteopath Matt Gibbons is actually the president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Osteopathy Association. So when you file a complaint with the association about him, he’s the one who receives the email! So what do you think actually happened when we filed a complaint? No response, no call – nothing. He just simply buried his head in the sand. I guess we can’t blame him. He doesn’t really have a way to defend himself. It’s not like he has integrity, a professional association and strong credentials to stand buy. Would you really risk a fraud helping you with your health care?

Matt has a passion for health and fitness that started early in life. Spending many of his years in youth practicing martial arts, strength training, numerous sports, and years of reading and research. His professional career began as certified personal trainer, working at New World Fitness and Goodlife Fitness achieving several advancements in rank based on client success and continuing education such as Darby training systems, Goodlife elite black belt levels, Fitness manager internship program and countless hours of dedicated self-education with concentration on rehabilitation. After five years as a fitness professional and graduating from the National Academy of Osteopathy he began his career as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. To better help people recover from chronic pain, physical disability and reach optimal performance he continued on to finish his Bachelors and Doctorate in Osteopathy, a Doctorate in Naprapthy, and a PhD in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He has participated in continuing education courses such as the Smarterehab programs, and is currently working on a certificate in medical neuroscience from Duke University. As well as actively practicing evidence-based manual therapy in Newfoundland he serves as the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Osteopathic Association, and is a member of the International Osteopathic Association, the Ontario Osteopathic and Alternative Medicine Association, the Society of Osteopaths of Canada (previously), the National Manual Osteopathic Society, the National Osteopathic Practitioners Association, The Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada, as well as a diplomat of the Canadian Manual Osteopathy Examining Board. Matt has a mission to provide the people of our province with the highest level of care in manual therapy by combining up-to-date science in evidence-based healthcare with the practice of treating the person and all of their body’s systems as a whole. To date, Matt has helped a significant number of people attain greater health and quality of life.

The fake doctor gibbons has on a “white coat” on his website. Seriously?! Why is he even actually wearing that? He doesn’t need to for any reason. The only reason has to be for the “image” and to facilitate the charade of his deliberate attempt to pull the wool over the unsuspecting public. He is no more of a “doctor” than any other high school drop-out from Shea Heights.

Yes that’s right. If you want to put “Dr” before your name, there is not any law, rule or regulation to stop you. No medical degree, no PhD, no university degree and hell – no high school diploma. – no problem. You can still call yourself a doctor. Does “Dr” Gibbons even have a high school diploma I wonder? If he has that, is it fake like every other degree he has? Be very careful who you let help you with your health.

Beware of “Extra” Services offered at Stability Osteopathy:

Have a close look at “Dr” Gibbons’ biography. How many degrees does he claim to have received – and here’s the kicker – in 4 years. Fact: It normally takes 3-4 years to complete a Bachelors degree. A PhD takes a minimum of 3 years. This often takes longer. How many does he have? The ONLY way this can be achieved is by buying them online at unaccredited schools. Do you really want this person guiding your health? This guy is no more of a doctor than Kermit the frog. In disbelief? Oh, you can probably guess. The answer the question is zero.

Do your own fact check: Look up all the credentials he claims to have. You’ll see they are ALL online with no oversight. The same “osteopathy degree” all staff at Stability Osteopathy claim to have can be done in a very short period of time online (6 weeks if you really push it) with no oversight.

  • All regulated professionals have to:
  • attend an accredited university in person
  • do a large number of hours in which they are supervised by a qualified professional
  • maintain some form of updates on current knowledge

Beware of this institute

The National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) is run by Dr. Shahin Pourgol who had been charged with 16 allegations by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario (CCO) and was disciplined with penalty after Dr Pourgol signed the Agreed Statement of Facts. Among the serious allegations which Dr. Pourgol later admitted is perjury, falsifying his names and other documents to obtain auto insurance settlements. Please, please be very weary if you ever consider to enroll in NAO.

The affidavit can be read at:
http://www.cco.on.ca/site_documents/Pourgol.pdf
There are also unsubstantiated Scam Allegations against Dr. Pourgol’s NAO on the Internet.

I do not know Dr. Pourgol and I have no interest in this field. This information has come up to my attention when searching the Internet at my wife’s request because she was interested in more info about enrolling in NAO.

No transparency

Recently formed NAO student. I asked about the accreditation from Spain as I can’t find info out. They won’t give copy of papers no show the accreditation from the Spanish authorities. When asked they change subject.

Ontario Ministry of Ed told me there is no accreditation by the govt only professional organizations. Shawn musta paid them off

Shame!

Where do I begin? This is the unfortunate reality of being unregulated…these kind of schools pop up to take advantage of an art and skill like Osteopathy.

Just think about it for a second how can you learn a manual therapy….online? You need time to develop palpation skills, time to understand anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology… these subjects are not understood over night. The online and in class timeline cant achieve that.

This only gives other Manual Osteopaths a bad name. Most important of all is safety of clients and patients…I don’t know how competent you can be given that time frame, and confident you will do your clients a disservice by taking the online portion…just crazy

Too many stories – Too little space. The bottom line: would you actually trust someone with no actual credentials – wait – let’s be correct here – would you actually trust someone who is knowingly running a scam with fake credentials with your health? No one at Stability Osteopathy has a real Osteopathy degree. All fake and they know it. When something goes wrong – do you actually even have a legal claim?

Fact: Osteopathy is not a regulated profession in Newfoundland. This allows people to use take credentials from online universities. So let’s be clear.
FACT: NO “Osteopath” at Stability Osteopathy has actually gone to an accredited Osteopath university.

In fact, you could put “osteopath” behind your name right now and try and impress people in with a bunch of fake letters behind your name. No one can stop you! Do you REALLY want to entrust your health to people with no real credentials?
